Palaiologos dynasty

Also known as Palaiologan

The Palaiologos dynasty was the last ruling dynasty of the Byzantine Empire, from 1261 until the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Michael VIII recovered Constantinople from the Latins in 1261. Accounts of the Byzantine Empire describe the Palaiologan state as more a city-state than an empire, dependent on Genoese commercial privileges.
