Pan-Hellenism
Pan-Hellenism is the idea of unity among the Greek city-states, often expressed as common action against Persia. Philip II of Macedon exploited Greek rivalries and claimed leadership of the Greeks. His son Alexander the Great invoked the pan-Hellenic cause in launching the Macedonian Empire's invasion of Persia.
