Pan-Islamism

Also known as Pan-Islamic

Pan-Islamism is a political movement advocating the unity of Muslims, often under the leadership of the Ottoman caliph in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. During the First World War, Sultan Ali Dinar of Darfur aligned with the Ottoman Empire under its influence. This gave Britain a pretext to invade and end the Darfur Sultanate in 1916.
