Paraná River
The Paraná is the second-longest river of South America, flowing about 4,880 kilometres from south-central Brazil along the borders of Paraguay and through Argentina to join the Uruguay river and form the Río de la Plata. With its tributary the Paraguay it was the main route of Spanish settlement in the interior, linking Buenos Aires with Asunción, and it remains a vital waterway.
