Partheniai
The Partheniai ('sons of maidens') were, according to Greek tradition, Spartans of inferior status born during the First Messenian War. Denied full citizenship, they plotted against Sparta and were sent away under their leader Phalanthus to found Taras (Tarentum) in southern Italy, traditionally in 706 BCE.
