Plato

Plato was an Athenian philosopher of the fifth and fourth centuries BCE, author of dialogues such as the Republic. His works were preserved in Byzantine libraries. After the fall of Constantinople, émigré scholars from the Byzantine Empire helped bring Platonic texts to Renaissance Italy, fuelling a revival of his thought.
