Parthian shot
The Parthian shot was a mounted archery tactic in which a horse archer, real or feigning retreat, turned in the saddle to shoot at pursuing enemies. It was characteristic of the Parthian Empire's cavalry and of other steppe peoples. The phrase survives in English, often as parting shot, for a final remark made on leaving.
