Penateka

Also known as Penateka Comanche

The Penateka, or Honey Eaters, were the southernmost division of the Comanche, living on the Edwards Plateau of central Texas. Closest to Spanish, Mexican and Texan settlement, they had the most contact with outsiders and suffered heavily from epidemics and from the Council House Fight of 1840 in San Antonio. Many later settled on reservations in Texas and then Indian Territory.
