Persaeus

c. 306–243 BCE · 3rd century BCE · Also known as Persaeus of Citium

Persaeus of Citium was a Stoic philosopher, a pupil and housemate of Zeno of Citium. Sent by Zeno to the court of Antigonus II Gonatas at Pella, he became a royal adviser and was later placed in command of the Macedonian garrison of Acrocorinth, where he died, or according to some accounts escaped, when Aratus of Sicyon captured the citadel in 243 BCE.
