Perth
Perth is the capital of Western Australia, on the Swan River near the Indian Ocean coast. It was founded in 1829 by Captain James Stirling as the capital of the Swan River Colony and grew slowly until the gold rushes of the 1890s. It is now Australia's fourth-largest city and the centre of the state's mining-based economy.
