Peruzzi family
The Peruzzi were a Florentine family of merchant-bankers whose company was one of the great trading and banking firms of the early 14th century, dealing in grain, wool and cloth and handling papal revenues. Large loans to Edward III of England and other rulers, together with wider economic troubles, led to the company's bankruptcy in 1343. The family remained prominent in Florentine politics.
