Pleissenland
The Pleissenland was an imperial territory in what is now eastern Thuringia and western Saxony, around Altenburg, Zwickau and Chemnitz, named after the Pleisse river. Organised by the Hohenstaufen emperors in the 12th century as a royal domain, it was administered by imperial ministerials such as the Schönburgs. From the 13th century it was pledged to and absorbed by the Wettin margraves of Meissen.
