Naumburg

Naumburg is a town on the Saale river in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It became the seat of a bishopric moved from Zeitz in 1028 and grew into a trading town. Its cathedral, with 13th-century statues of founders such as Uta carved by the Naumburg Master, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the bishopric's lands passed to Saxony after the Reformation.
