Prince George of Greece and Denmark
Prince George of Greece and Denmark was the second son of King George I of Greece. In December 1898 the great powers appointed him High Commissioner of the autonomous Cretan State, which he governed from Chania until 1906. His autocratic style clashed with Eleftherios Venizelos, and after the Theriso revolt of 1905 he resigned.
