Priscus

5th century · 5th century · Also known as Priscus of Panium

Priscus of Panium was an Eastern Roman diplomat and historian of the 5th century. In 449 he accompanied an embassy to the court of Attila and wrote a vivid account of the Huns, describing their wooden palaces, banquets and the mixed peoples of the court. His history survives only in fragments but is the main contemporary source on Attila and on the peoples of the steppe in his time.
