Pristina
Pristina is the capital and largest city of Kosovo. In the Middle Ages it was a market town near the mining centres of Novo Brdo and Trepča and a residence of Serbian rulers, including Vuk Branković in the late 14th century, and the Battle of Kosovo of 1389 was fought nearby. Under Ottoman rule from 1455, it became the administrative centre of Kosovo in the 20th century and capital of the independent state in 2008.
