Puttalam

Puttalam is a town on the north-west coast of Sri Lanka, on the Puttalam Lagoon. The nearby coast is one of the places linked by tradition with the landing of Prince Vijaya, and the area has long been known for its salt pans and coconut plantations. The town has a large Muslim community with old trading connections.
