Puzur-Ashur I
Puzur-Ashur I was an early ruler of the city of Assur in northern Mesopotamia, around the twentieth century BCE. He founded a dynasty that gave Assyrian history remarkable continuity. In this early period Assur's power rested on its commercial network of merchant colonies in Anatolia, the foundation of the later Assyrian Empire.
