Pyrzyce

Also known as Pyritz

Pyrzyce, German Pyritz, is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship of north-western Poland, south-east of Szczecin. In 1124 Bishop Otto of Bamberg baptised several thousand Pomeranians there, beginning the region's conversion to Christianity. The Treaty of Pyritz between Brandenburg and Pomerania was signed there in 1493, and the town became part of Poland in 1945.
