Qara'unas
The Qara'unas were a Turco-Mongol military people of the borderlands of Afghanistan and Khurasan, descended from Mongol garrison troops stationed there in the thirteenth century. They became one of the leading tribal groupings of the Chagatai Khanate, and their amir Qazaghan ruled Transoxiana in the 1340s and 1350s as the power behind puppet khans. His grandson Husayn was Timur's ally and rival.
