Rajasuya

The Rajasuya was a Vedic royal consecration ritual in which a king was anointed and proclaimed his supremacy over other rulers. Described in the Yajurveda and the Brahmanas, it involved a long series of ceremonies, including a mock cattle raid and a game of dice. In the Mahabharata, Yudhishthira's Rajasuya sets off the fateful dice game that leads to war.
