13th century · 13th century

Ramón Bonifaz was a merchant of Burgos who commanded the fleet of Ferdinand III of Castile at the siege of Seville and is regarded as the first admiral of Castile. In May 1248 his ships broke the pontoon bridge linking Seville to Triana, cutting the city's supply line, and Seville surrendered later that year.
