Ranna
Ranna was a Kannada poet of the late tenth century, one of the 'three gems' of early Kannada literature with Pampa and Ponna. Born into a family of bangle-sellers, he became court poet of the Western Chalukya kings Tailapa II and Satyashraya with the title Kavichakravarti. His surviving works are the Jain Ajitapurana (993) and the Gadayuddha, a retelling of the Mahabharata duel of Bhima and Duryodhana.
