Rendel Constitution
The Rendel Constitution was the constitution introduced in Singapore in 1955 on the recommendations of a commission led by Sir George Rendel. It created a Legislative Assembly with a majority of elected members and a Council of Ministers led by a chief minister, while Britain kept control of defence, foreign affairs and internal security. The first elections under it made David Marshall of the Labour Front chief minister.
