Rose Revolution
The Rose Revolution was the peaceful change of power in Georgia in November 2003. Protests against rigged parliamentary elections, led by Mikheil Saakashvili, Nino Burjanadze and Zurab Zhvania, culminated when demonstrators carrying roses entered parliament, and President Eduard Shevardnadze resigned. Saakashvili won the presidential election of January 2004 and began pro-Western reforms.
