Rosenborg Castle

1606–1624 · 17th century

Rosenborg Castle is a Renaissance castle in Copenhagen built by Christian IV between 1606 and 1624, first as a summer house in his gardens. It was a favourite residence of the king, who died there in 1648. Since the 19th century it has been a museum of the royal collections, and it houses the Danish crown jewels.
