Rostov
Rostov, also called Rostov Veliky, is a town on Lake Nero in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, and one of the oldest towns of north-eastern Rus', first recorded in 862. It was the early centre of the Rostov-Suzdal land, the seat of a bishop and later of a separate principality, which Moscow absorbed in 1474. Its walled metropolitan's residence, the Rostov Kremlin, is a landmark of the Golden Ring.
