Nero

37–68 CE · 1st century · Also known as Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus

Nero was Roman emperor from 54 to 68 CE, the last of the Julio-Claudian dynasty, adopted heir of Claudius. His reign saw the revolt of Boudica in Britain, the settlement with Parthia that placed Tiridates on the Armenian throne, the Great Fire of Rome in 64 and the persecution of Christians. Revolts by provincial governors led to his fall, and he took his own life in 68.
