Also known as House of Rothschild

The Rothschild family is a Jewish banking dynasty founded by Mayer Amschel Rothschild in the Judengasse of Frankfurt in the late 18th century. His five sons set up banking houses in Frankfurt, London, Paris, Vienna and Naples, and in the 19th century the family became the leading lenders to European governments. The Frankfurt house closed in 1901.
