Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a town in Franconia, Bavaria, above the Tauber valley, which grew below a Hohenstaufen castle and was a free imperial city from 1274 until 1802. Taken by Tilly's imperial army in 1631, it then declined, which preserved its walled medieval townscape, now one of Germany's best-known sights. The festival play of the Master Draught recalls the capture of 1631.
