Savona
Savona is a port city on the Ligurian coast of north-western Italy, west of Genoa. A rival of Genoa in the Middle Ages, it was subdued by the Genoese in 1528. The della Rovere family of Popes Sixtus IV and Julius II came from the area, and Napoleon held Pope Pius VII captive in the city from 1809 to 1812.
