Scipio family
The Scipio family was a leading branch of the Roman Cornelii, prominent in the Roman Republic. During the Second Punic War its members fought Carthaginian forces in Spain, and Scipio Africanus defeated Hannibal at Zama in 202 BCE. Their campaigns in Spain helped deny Hannibal the reinforcements he needed.
