Barcid family
The Barcid family was a leading Carthaginian family of the third century BCE, including Hamilcar Barca and his sons Hannibal, Hasdrubal and Mago. After the First Punic War they built a power base in Spain, rich in silver mines. Hannibal's invasion of Italy from there began the Second Punic War, whose defeat brought the decline of the Punic Empire.
