Sebastian Lotzer

c. 1490–after 1525 · 16th century

Sebastian Lotzer was a furrier's journeyman and lay preacher in Memmingen who wrote Reformation pamphlets. In March 1525, as secretary of the Upper Swabian peasant army, he drafted the Twelve Articles, the demands of the German Peasants' War, with Christoph Schappeler. After the rebels' defeat he fled to Switzerland, and nothing certain is known of his later life.
