Selimiye Mosque
The Selimiye Mosque is an imperial mosque in Edirne built for Sultan Selim II by the architect Mimar Sinan in the 1570s. Its vast central dome and four slender minarets make it one of the masterpieces of Ottoman architecture. Accounts of the Ottoman Empire cite it, together with the Süleymaniye Mosque, as a high point of Sinan's architectural programme.
