Senne
The Senne (Dutch Zenne) is a small river of central Belgium, about 100 km long, flowing north through Brussels to join the Dijle near Mechelen. Brussels grew up on and around an island in the Senne in the 10th century. Polluted and prone to flooding, the river was vaulted over within the city between 1867 and 1871 and now runs underground there.
