Serapio

fl. 357 · 4th century · Also known as Agenarichus

Serapio was an Alemannic king of the fourth century, a nephew of Chnodomar. His father Mederichus, held as a hostage in Gaul, had been initiated into Greek mysteries and renamed his son, originally Agenarichus, after the god Serapis. Serapio commanded the right wing of the Alemannic coalition defeated by Julian at the Battle of Strasbourg in 357.
