Shahanshah

Shahanshah, meaning King of Kings, was the title of the supreme ruler in ancient and medieval Iran. It was used by the Achaemenid kings and revived by the Sasanian dynasty, whose founder Ardashir I adopted it. Accounts of the Sasanian Empire treat the title as the expression of the monarch's supreme authority over lesser kings and nobles.
