Shenyang
Shenyang, known in Manchu as Mukden, is the capital of Liaoning province in north-eastern China. Nurhaci made it the capital of the Later Jin in 1625, and it remained the Manchu capital until the move to Beijing in 1644; its Mukden Palace survives. The Russo-Japanese War's Battle of Mukden was fought nearby in 1905, and the Mukden Incident of 1931 began the Japanese occupation of Manchuria.
