Shilluk people
The Shilluk, or Chollo, are a Nilotic people living mainly along the west bank of the White Nile in South Sudan, around Malakal and Kodok. Their kingdom, founded according to tradition by Nyikang, was ruled by a sacred king, the reth, from Fashoda. Farmers, cattle keepers and fishermen, they raided down the Nile in canoe fleets in the 17th and 18th centuries.
