Shillong
Shillong is a hill city in north-eastern India and the capital of Meghalaya. Founded as a British station in the 1860s on the lands of the Khasi state of Mylliem, it became the capital of Assam in 1874 and remained so until Meghalaya was formed in 1972. Its cool climate and pine-covered hills earned it the name 'Scotland of the East'.
