Shunten
Shunten is the legendary first king of Ryukyu, said in the Chūzan Seikan chronicle to have reigned from 1187 to 1237. Later tradition made him a son of the Japanese warrior Minamoto no Tametomo and a local woman, a story used to tie the Ryukyuan royal line to Japan. His dynasty was said to have ended with his grandson, after whom Eiso took power.
