Sibylla, Queen of Jerusalem

c. 1160–1190 · 12th century · Also known as Queen Sibylla

Sibylla was Queen of Jerusalem from 1186 to 1190, daughter of Amalric I and sister of the leper king Baldwin IV. Against much of the nobility she had her husband Guy of Lusignan crowned with her, and their reign saw the disastrous defeat at Hattin and the loss of Jerusalem to Saladin in 1187. She died of illness in 1190 during the siege of Acre, leaving the succession to her half-sister Isabella I.
