Siegen

Siegen is a university city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on the Sieg in the Siegerland. Held by the House of Nassau from the 13th century, it was the residence of the Nassau-Siegen line from 1606, whose Upper and Lower Castles still stand. Long a centre of iron mining and smelting, it was the birthplace of Peter Paul Rubens in 1577.
