Siphnian Treasury

c. 525 BCE · 6th century BCE

The Siphnian Treasury is a small Ionic building at the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi, built about 525 BCE by the people of Siphnos from the wealth of their gold and silver mines. It housed their offerings to the god and is famous for its sculptured frieze, which shows scenes such as the battle of the gods and giants, and for its caryatid columns. Its remains are displayed in the Delphi Archaeological Museum.
