Sochi
Sochi is a city on the Black Sea coast of Russia's Krasnodar Krai, stretching along the shore below the western Caucasus. Before the Russian conquest the area was home to the Ubykhs and other Circassian peoples, and in 1861 it hosted the Circassian assembly that appealed for foreign help. After the expulsions of 1864 it was resettled and grew into a major Soviet and Russian resort, host of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
