Solunto

Also known as Soloeis, Solus

Solunto is an archaeological site on Monte Catalfano near Santa Flavia, east of Palermo in Sicily, on the site of ancient Soloeis or Solus. A Phoenician foundation, it was one of the Punic towns of western Sicily with Motya and Panormus, as Thucydides records. Destroyed in 397 BCE, it was rebuilt on the hillside in Hellenistic style and continued as a Roman town before being abandoned.
