Someshvara II

r. 1068–1076 · 11th century

Someshvara II was king of the Western Chalukya Empire from 1068 to 1076, the eldest son of Someshvara I. His reign was troubled by conflict with the Cholas and by the rivalry of his younger brother Vikramaditya, who held the southern provinces from Banavasi and allied with the Chola king Virarajendra. In 1076 Vikramaditya deposed him and became king as Vikramaditya VI.
