Sonargaon
Sonargaon, the old Suvarnagrama, is a historic town near Narayanganj in central Bangladesh. It was a capital of eastern Bengal under the Deva dynasty and then of Muslim governors and the Sultan Fakhruddin Mubarak Shah in the 14th century. Visitors such as Ibn Battuta described its trade, and in the late 16th century it was the seat of Isa Khan, leader of the Baro-Bhuyans. Its ruined merchant quarter, Panam Nagar, survives.
