Sufriyya
The Sufriyya were a moderate branch of the Kharijites, the early Islamic movement that rejected both Ali and the Umayyads, which emerged in Iraq in the late 7th century. Spread by missionaries to North Africa, it inspired the great Berber revolt of 740 against the Umayyad Caliphate, and Sufri Berber states arose at Tlemcen under Abu Qurra and at Sijilmasa under the Midrarids. The movement faded by the 11th century.
